Sonia and Rahul to Face Trial..!
On Friday, the Supreme Court said that it found “no justification” in stopping the prosecution of Congress’ Sonia & Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
The bench said “it is not our business to get into all this” and that the court has a “very limited scope” to intervene at this stage. Lawyers representing the Congress leaders said that there can’t be public interest when allegations include cheating and criminal breach of trust. They said, “Swamy’s complaint has to be dismissed on the ground of locus since he is neither a victim nor a deceived person.” They explained that no one linked with the National Herald newspaper or the Congress party has complained.
However, the bench told the lawyers to put forward their matters at the stage of charge framing, but not at this occasion. The next trial court hearing is on 20 Feb.

The govt said that for the forthcoming Budget, it’s considering a package of tax incentives for the labour-intensive leather and gems and jewellery sectors to boost manufacturing & exports.
Leather comes under the ‘Make in India’ initiative which aims to increase its exports to $15 bn by 2020 from the current $6 bn. Recommended incentives include elimination of customs duty on imported leather machinery from the current 26.5% duty, excise duty reduction up to ₹2K and increase in the abatement rate to 35% from 25%.

For the jewellery industry, customs duty may be raised to 15% from the current 10% and excise duty will be abolished on imitation jewellery due to its huge demand in the US and EU.

Modi's Foreign Flight Bill....!
Since the PM Modi took office in May 2014, between the months of June and November he spent ₹77 cr on air travel in a matter of only 6 months! Unfortunately, the bills have only been processed for 2014 till now, so we don’t know the full figure of the total 19 flights PM Modi has taken.
Ex-PM Manmohan Singh has spent a total of ₹794.8 4cr which though seems to be a lot, when compared to his 10-year term in office brings it to about ₹79.5 cr per year – a figure that Modi has surpassed in just half a year. In his first 6 months, Singh only spend ₹30.45 cr on flights. Ex-BJP PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee travelled abroad only 19 times in 5 years, amounting a much smaller total expenditure of ₹144.34 cr or about ₹14.4 cr per 6 months.

Will Supreme Court Lift Ban on Gay Sex?
The Supreme Court has allowed a curative petition on the issue of Gay Sex, in Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The petition is the last legal course of action that can be taken in a court of law.
The SC had referred the matter to a bench of 5 judges, leaving the door open for a judicial review of the controversial law. The referral is a standard procedure, but going by the history of India's judiciary, it is quite rare to that the court change their stance on the law.
Several LGBT activists are waiting outside the SC for their verdict on the petition and most of them hold a realistic outlook on it. They know that whether or not the petition comes to fruition, they’ll still have a long way to go in changing the mind-set of a nation
